Nomzamo Mbatha recently went down memory lane when she posted a snap of her younger self as a pageant girl. The actress and presenter opened up about how her late dad hated beauty pageants and was upset when he found out that her mom had put her in one.
"My dad hated pageants so much and when he heard my mom had entered me into one at my crèche he was so upset! first and last time I was ever in one," she wrote in part. Take a look at the adorable picture below:
Nomzamo has come a long way since her days as a pageant girl, the Isibaya actress was thrust into the spotlight when she entered an MTV presenter competition and even though she did not win, months after the reality competition, she bagged the role of Thandaza on Isibaya and her life changed instantly.
Not only is she an actress, she is a presenter and a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador who has been criticised for her activism. Speaking to Masechaba and Mo Flava about the backlash she got for her Cosmo Activism cover, she said: “I think the semantics around so and so can be called this, so and so can’t be called this, I think it’s divisive, I think it’s elitist, I think it’s gatekeeping."
