Penny Lebyane's home was broken into

Penny Lebyane's journey hasn't always been an easy one, she had to fight for her spot in the entertainment industry at a time when most women were not taken seriously.

In an in-depth interview with Anele Mdoda, she spoke about a time when she experienced sexism on Metro FM as a young broadcaster.

She says that although she did not know how to label the things that were happening to her at the time, she can now look back and see that it was sexism, “I had no idea what sexism, marginalization and all of those things meant, but I experienced all of those things without the context of knowing what they were. I only realized in hindsight what those things were.”

She then went on to say that she did not get the highly sought after shows because she was a woman & no matter how qualified she was for the jobs, they would always be given to her male colleagues.

Penny subsequently left Metro FM, she then become a Motswako presenter before hosting Sunrise on ETV.
