If there’s one story we did not expect to read (or indeed write) it’s this one. Mid-2000s rapper, Pitch Black Afro has just been arrested for the murder of his wife Trisha.
An explosive report in this afternoon’s Daily Sun alleges that the incident took place on 31 December and that Pitch Black is now in police custody. Today’s story, though more damning, was actually a follow up to speculation that Trisha (real name Catherine Modusane) had been found dead at the turn of the year.
According to the initial report, her family was on the hunt for answers, while one source alleged to the paper that the woman was killed.
In Wednesday’s story, the paper spoke to another individual close to the story, who had a rundown of how the murder occured on New Year’s Eve. According to the report, the husband and wife were partying with friends at an apartment in Bellevue. The source told Daily Sun: “They were drinking for most of the night and then Pitch Black got into a small argument with his woman. They left soon after that.”
Things took a bizarre turn when Trisha returned without any shoes on but looking visibly troubled. It seems as if whatever went wrong happened at the BnB afterwards as a source said she was found bruised and still the following morning
“She looked like she was sleeping but was bruised all over. It was easy to see because she was light skinned. I told my friend they needed to call an ambulance and police. Even people who spent the night at the BnB said they heard noises from the couple’s room," the source told the publication.
Fast forward to the 9 January and it seems as if suspect number one is Pitch Black Afro himself. Provincial Police Spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini confirmed that the man arrested is the once-famous rapper.
According to the report, he will be appearing at the Hillbrow Magistrates court on Thursday morning before we hear how he decides to plea.
This is certainly a tragic start to the year and if he is proven to be guilty, then Pitch Black Afro must face the full might of the law.
