Speaking about racists, Bonnie Mbuli revealed that the hatred they generate actually eats at them and ends up killing them (we're not sure if she was also hinting at Penny Sparrow, who died of lung cancer this week). However, as reflective as her tone was, followers could sense that her thoughts were coming from a hurtful place and it soon became clear why.
Bonnie, who is a champion of the helpless, opened up about a disgusting incident in which her son was "pushed" by a stranger and told to cycle where he "belongs".
She took to Twitter to open about the incident when she said:
"Racists don’t realize that Racism is a cancer in itself that destroys the host faster than anyone it oppresses, it turns ppl into monsters who destroy their own lives. On the weekend, a woman pushed my 9yr old son off his bike on the prom and told him to 'go ride where you belong'"
She added further details about the incident in a subsequent tweet:
The former Afternoon Express presenter reckons that her son told her about the incident long after it happened because he probably knew that she was going to give the attacker a piece of her mind and then some.
Despite having lived in a "rainbow"-coloured democratic country for 25 years now, it appears as if racism is no closer to disappearing and incidents like these serve as evidence of that.
Earlier this year, presenter Samora Mangesi opened up about a similar racist incident when he wrote on Twitter:
"On Friday night I was the victim of a racially motivated attack. After stopping to check on a group of young white people whose car had overturned, they called my friends & I Monkeys. When we engaged them on why we were being called such, they beat me up until I was unconscious. "
What do you think we need to do to deal with racists once and for all?

Lerato Kganyago also exposed a racist attacker earlier this year.
