It's been 9 years since the untimely death of Reggae legend Lucky Dube. Fans of the musician took the time to commemorate his memory on the 9th anniversary of his passing.

On the 18th of October 2009, South Africans woke up to the shocking news of Lucky Dube's death. The musician was shot and killed during a hijack after he dropped off his two sons at their uncle's home in the suburb of Rosettenville.

Lucky Dube boasted a 25-year career in the music industry and has 22 albums in his name.

In the early 90's he signed an international contract with Motown Records which saw him go on international tours and share the stage with international and Grammy award-winning musicians.

The late singer was also awarded a number of accolades which include a World Music Award, Ghana Music Award and a South African Music Award.

Fans of the reggae star took to social media to also celebrate Lucky's music and legacy.

His daughter, Bongi Dube has since followed in his father's footsteps and has released a number of hit songs which include her smash hit, Ngifuna Wena, Go around and more.
