The show was announced back in May when entries opened for contestants to take part but there was little else made public about the show until last night's SABC 1 showcase where rapper, Rouge and Mzansi Insider's Kgaugelo KC Mokholwane were announced as the show's hosts.
Described as "the world’s most talked about reality music competition," The Remix sees groups made up of a DJ/Producer, a vocalist and musical performer battle it out, either by scratching, belting out vocals and playing their hardest, to remix some of the world’s most popular hit songs.
How does it work:
Ten groups, each made up of a trio of a strong vocalist, DJ/Producer and musical performer of choice will compete head to head every week until only one group is left standing.
Groups will be tasked with creating a remix within a given theme or musical genre. Working together, they must create a unique sound and bring new flavour to existing local and international hits. All this, while doing justice to the original track. The winners will walk away with a cash prize.
According to SABC 1 "it’s that simple... but it won’t be easy!"
The groups will then perform their remix in front of a live studio audience and our star judges. They will be judged on the remix that they produce as well as the performance they give. The worst performance of the night will be eliminated.
The Remix will air on SABC 1 on Sundays at 18h00. It will also feature Mo Flava and Kelly Khumalo on the judging panel.
