Following last week's drama which led to crew members holding SABC bosses hostage on the set of an upcoming historical Zulu drama called 'Uselwa,' the pay debate in the entertainment industry has been reignited.
One person who has never shied away from having frank discussions about the short-comings of the industry is former Muvhango actress turned director, Florence Masebe, who recently weighed in on the prevailing status quo.
Other entertainment industry practitioners such as Portia Gumede, Phil Mphela and Phathu Makwarela have weighed in on the matter but the most shocking revelation thus far comes from eTV Scandal! actress, Kgomotso Christopher who revealed that the SABC still owes her 5-year-old residuals from her time on Isidingo.
Masebe then responded, stating that the SABC should perhaps take a leaf out of eTV's book as they have a payment system in place that works.
This continues to happen despite contracts being put in place that dictate the actors be paid.
They also went to reveal the shocking news that the SABC still has not updated policies to account for revenue drawn from other income streams on various broadcasting platforms or devices.
