The self-confessed foodie is in Mzansi for the first time and it seems as if he's done his research on what to eat when in the country. The singer will be performing two back to back shows at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg before he jets off to the Mother City for one thrilling night of music and fun.
Taking a moment to speak to Channel 24, The "Thrill of It All" hitmaker revealed that the first thing he wants to try out when in Mzansi is authentic South African wine. He said in his interview:
"I'm so excited to come over there, I've never ever been to South Africa before but I'm so excited to be there. I'm so excited to drink South African wine."
When it came time to speak about which particular foods he was most interested in eating, Sam Smith revealed that wherever he goes, he takes a moment to indulge in chicken wings.
"Wherever I go, eating chicken wings makes me feel at home. Nando's chicken wings are okay, I'm just a fan of any chicken wing really."
Channel 24 reporter, Alex Isaacs then recommended that he try braaied chicken at a Shisanyama and explained that they can be found all over the country, Smith commented:
"I'm so excited to try that, I'm going get that."
Fans who are attending Sam Smith's South African concerts are in for a massive treat. Not only is he a great entertainer, engaging with the crowd at every opportunity, he is also one of the most gifted vocalists on the planet. When asked which was his favourite song to perform he said:
"My favourite song to perform live is Stay with Me, it was the song that launched everything for me in such a ginormous way. The messaging of the song and how easy it is to sing; I think makes it such a singalong moment during the show. I always look forward to that and I've never, ever gotten sick of that song and I really thought I would be because it's a very simple song."
We're trying our best not to let FOMO get in the way of objective reporting, but we are HIGH KEY jealous of everyone who will get to attend his shows this weekend.
