An award winning actor with years of experience in acting offers his advice to aspiring actors when it comes to the correct ways of studying a script.

We tend to watch actors on TV with the utmost admiration and respect and sometimes we can’t help but want to be as good as they are.

One of those actors is Sello Maake Ka Ncube who is currently causing quite a stir on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen.

During an interview on Cliff Central recently, Sello was asked what advice he has for aspiring actors, especially when it comes to studying scripts and being an all-round good actor.

Sello emphasised the importance of being an actor who is a lover of language.

“The one thing about being an actor is that you’ve got to be a lover of language, you have to appreciate language.”

Sello went on to make an example of how people who go to the theatre are referred to as an audience, therefore, an audience goes to the theatre to listen to what you have to say. So basically if you want to be a good actor ensure that you have a good speech and invest in taking the time to become a multilingual actor.

“Language is one of the most important things about being an actor, actors have got to practice speech and always have things that they play around with. You’ve got to allow yourself to play with words and enjoy speaking“ he said.

Sello also mentioned that he is working on launching his own performance arts academy where he will be training actors to focus on being multilingual.
