Former Idols contestant Siphelele Ngcobo has announced that he will finally be releasing his first single, titled Nandi, on Friday.
The song is said to signify Ngcobo as an artist, as well as the type of music he is comfortable in doing and known for by his fans.
Siphelele caught everyone’s attention when he blessed us with his Jazz rendition of Zahara’s Loliwe during his run on Idols.
The charming singer has now returned to charm more ladies with his debut single.
ZAlebs caught up with the singer to hear more about what the song has in store for his fanbase.
Although this might not go down well with some ladies, Siphelele admitted that he wrote the song Nandi for his girlfriend.
“I wrote the song for someone who is very special to me. Her name isn’t Nandi, but I would refer to her as Nandi because she was Shaka’s mom, the ultimate queen, the most respectable woman on earth since she gave birth to our Zulu king. So I dedicated the song to my queen.”
Siphelele mentioned that it only took him two days to write the song, while the production took place between Johannesburg and Durban.
Since appearing on Idols, Siphelele has admitted that it has been nothing but a smooth sailing experience for him thanks to the great team he has behind him.
“It’s been so easy for me to break into the industry, I’ve had a very beautiful, hardworking and supportive team behind me since day one.
They’re the very same team that worked with me on Idols. So I decided to keep them as my managers. They’ve been doing a tremendous job for me, and I would be lying if I said I’ve been struggling to get recognition since I left Idols.”
Siphelele, who developed close relationships with Idols winner Karabo Mogane and runner-up Mmatema Moremi, expressed that he would love to do a joint venture with both of them in the near future.
“As soon as I work on my debut album maybe I can call Karabo and Mmatema for a collaboration? That would be great. They’re more than just former fellow contestants, they’re like my sister and brother.” Keep a look out for Sphe’s new single. Image Credit: Supplied
