The South African movie industry has been making good progress through the years; and in 2016 we have seen movies being released and putting the talent of our actors out there for the world to see.

The South African movie industry dates back to 1910, when the first full film The Great Kimberly Diamond Robbery was first released. We are now in the year 2016 and to say this industry has amazingly evolved would be an understatement.

Below is the list of South African movies released in 2016:

This proudly South African movie Free State directed by Salmon de Jager starring Andrew Govender, Nicola Breytenbach, Leleti Khumalo and Deon Lotz is about an act of kindness that sparks romance between a white woman and an Indian man during the Apartheid era.

Qubeka plays the role of a Hillbrow sex worker who gets haunted by old secrets, and Mboya plays the role of a drug user that disrupts everyone's lives.
