Talent has always been put into question when it comes to the creative industry, hence many have gotten away with merely amassing wealth and fame but little or even no talent at all.
These sentiments were shared by South African rapper, Nadia Nakai
when interviewed about her much-anticipated debut album, Nadia Naked.
In an interview with Isolezwe
, the Naah Meann
hitmaker expressed the importance of honing one's craft before gunning for fame and fortune. This, she directed to upcoming musicians as they are mostly of the belief that fame is equivalent to success, whilst being oblivious to the nurturing of their talent.
Speaking to the publication, the 29-year-old rapper said the following:" If you're a musician, you should strive for growth, so that you'll wholesomely blow up. Fame should not be your focal point as it can be easily and quickly dimmed."Nadia Nakai
knows a thing or two about working your way up. Many of her staunch fans might remember her as a signed artist on Psyfo's record label many years ago, however, things did not quite work out for her during this time. Nadia has since risen to the top with sizzling and viable collaborations with artists such as, Ms Pru, Gemini Major and Cassper Nyovest
, who also happens to be her boss; hence she is signed to his record label, Family Tree.
Nadia Nakai's career has been on the up since blowing up a couple of years ago. We have seen her stretch her revenue streams, whereby a clothing label and sunglasses range were released in collaboration with retail giant company, Sportscene and Redbat.
has tirelessly worked her way to the top and seeing how successful she has become, many should take a page out of her book.
