Last week, a Sunday newspaper reported that the media personality spent the night at Randburg Police Station after bumping into an orange BMW and driving off.
After days of fans questioning her about the matter, Mkangisa has broken her silence.
Speaking to Mo Flava in a recent interview on Metro FM, the actress revealed that she was indeed involved in an accident but found that the story was unnecessarily exaggerated.
"I don't want to get into it but basically, I was definitely not involved in a hit and run. I don't know how this story blew way out of proportion.”
The actress went on to add that there is no case standing at the moment and felt that she was involved in a ‘relatable’ incident.
"It became a whole thing, unnecessarily. I can't really go into detail because of the arrest and all the other things they were saying about it. But, basically, there is no case. Naturally. How is there going to be a case? Have you never hit someone's car by mistake?"
Khanya then went on to add that she is back to doing what she loves the most. Khanya is not the first star to find herself in hot water after an alleged road violation.
Here are some of the other celebrities who have allegedly broken the law on the road:
- In March 2012, Gareth Cliff was allegedly caught driving 182km/h in a 120km/h zone on the R21 in Lyttelton and arrested for speeding in Pretoria
- Actor and businessman, Thato Molamu was allegedly arrested in Pretoria for supposedly driving under the influence in his Jaguar.
- In 2014, actress Phindile Gwala found herself in hot water after she was allegedly caught drinking & driving, however, the charges have since been withdrawn.
- According to media reports, DJ Sbu was arrested for a road violation in 2015.
