Having left Metro FM last month, Unathi Msengana has been focusing on her other talents, which also includes writing a book.
In an interview with Cliff Central, Unathi mentioned that she's currently writing a book that focuses on losing weight and that will specifically focus on black women and their bodies
The reason behind writing this book is because of her experiences of being body shamed.
"I'm writing a book about losing my weight, black women never had the resources or information to like, live in our best bodies.
For example, on my wedding day, I'm literally in a panty and bra in front of like 25 women I've never met, the one hits me on the waist and she says 'You are too skinny to be a Msengana wife' that's my first hour as a married woman. It's that kind of vibe. By the way I had never met her, she's not even a family member. "
The irony is that whilst some women were saying Unathi was skinny other women on social media were body shaming her for gaining weight.
Unathi explained that one woman on social media once said that she was so fat she looked like a stuff fat cook, and her arms looked like they were raw dumplings still boiling and bumping in the pots.
From those weight comments, Unathi has learned that she needs to be happy in her own body
"That was my greatest lesson, I need to be happy in this body because it's the only body I'm ever going to get. So I realized, I need to be happy in this and this is how I'm happy, I'm happy firm, I'm happy tight, I'm happy sculpted, I'm happy with a tight waist and a thick ass."
