Uzalo distances itself from scammers

The show is embroiled in another audition scandal.

Uzalo is South Africa's most watched television show, a couple of months ago, the show broke Mzansi television records and fresh off the good news, the show is being used by scammers to lure aspiring actors and actresses.

Taking to Twitter, the official Uzalo account warned its viewers against scammers posing as them on social media:

"Please Be Aware!! This is a Scam. PLEASE REPORT THIS PAGE!We are currently not holding auditions."

A couple of months ago, Uzalo cast and crew members downed their tools after it was revealed that the show had not paid its workers for the month of August 2018. At the time, the production sent out a statement confirming the strike, "Production on the popular Mzansi telenovela, Uzalo has been paused for the remainder of this month. This follows an amicable decision by the cast and crew to suspend their services until such a time as they are paid their August salaries, which came due on the 25th of August."
