The actor comes from humble beginnings

Thembinkosi Thwala

Before being a man of the law and a heartthrob on SABC's Uzalo, Thembinkosi Thwala was a man who worked from dusk till dawn.

When no one was checking for the man, the actor used to make a living as a packer for Checkers in Eastgate. Talking to Isolezwe, he shared how a normal day would go for him:

'When the store closed we'd come in and place products on the shelves. We'd get in at 6 in the evening and pack until 6 in the morning.'

This does make one wonder though, what did he do with his spare time while everyone was at work? To answer that, he used to go to places where acting was being taught as acting was his passion and it's something that he had been doing since high school.

When he used to work at Checkers, he was paid a measly R2300 and had to take care of his 2 children with that money. Things have changed as he's getting enough money to take care of his kids and have enough for himself. Going through those difficult times has made it easier for him to create a more believable character in Mondli and his success shows that it eventually pays off to persevere.
