The stars came out to play at the red carpet premiere of Spud 2: The Madness Continues and Helen Desbois got to chat to a few of the cast, including international funny man John Cleese! Find out more about the film and its crazy characters…
John Milton, also known as Spud, hits cinemas nationwide on 21 June in the sequel to the brilliant screenplay of Spud…Spud 2: The Madness Continues. Troye Sivan reprises his role of the teenage private school boy with woes aplenty and silly shenanigans with all his friends who comprise the Crazy 8. Poor old Spud's girl troubles haven't let up since the first film and he finds himself, surprisingly, a popular and wanted man!
Watch our red carpet interviews below:
John Cleese returns in his role as the slightly tipsy Guv and his dry sense of humour and fondness of his favourite pupil, Spud, will have you guffawing and smiling throughout the film. Spud's folks played by Aaron Mcilroy and Diane Summers return crazier and funnier than ever and would make any teenager cringe at their behaviour on and off the school grounds. Let’s not forget Spud’s grandmother who is still a few sandwiches short of a picnic, "Wombat", played by Christine Le Brocq.
All of these colourful characters and the brain child of John Van De Ruit from his ever popular series of Spud books, return to our screens and promise to take you back to your childhood, reminding you of the difficulties and joys of adolescence. Donovan Marsh returns as director and the film is beautifully shot and whimsical in its school setting.
Has Spud grown up? Has he managed to solve his girl problems? Is Wombat certifiable? Will Guv's eccentricity get the better of him? Will the Crazy 8 manage to get through the year without getting expelled?
Spud 2: The Madness Continues will answer all these questions and more – be sure to check it out at a cinema near you!
