This week, Black Coffee shared a tweet that caught the attention of many fashion lovers around the country. The DJ confirmed that Virgil Abloh’s Off-White would be heading to South Africa “soon”.
Off-White is one of the most sought-after luxury streetwear brands on the planet and has positively influenced the fashion industry since Virgil first founded it in 2012. For years, fashion lovers from Mzansi either had to travel overseas in order to get their hands on some authentic Off-White gear, or buy them from Gumtree resellers online.
Now, however, it looks as if SA will be able to purchase Off-White in their own unique store. In the tweet, which was only captioned “Coming Soon”, DJ and friend of Virgil Abloh, Black Coffee shared an image containing details about the store’s launch. While a date has yet to be confirmed, it looks as if SA will be getting its very own, unique Off-White collection. As well as this; the collection will only be available at the up-and-coming Braamfontein store, but it remains to be seen if the outlet will be a permanent installment.
There are currently only 24 Off-White stores around the world, meaning that the Braam edition would be one of the most exclusive clothing outlets on the planet that stocks authentic Off-White.
The news was greeted with excitement from fans in Mzansi, although many are cautious about getting too excited before seeing the prices first. Those with sharp memories will recall that Black Coffee and Euphonik both hinted at the brand’s impending arrival back in October:
Considering that Virgil Abloh (who is also a DJ, by the way) has been long-rumoured to be on the line-up for Black Coffee’s Music is King concert, we anticipate that the launch of the store will coincide with the concert during the middle of December.
And while they are at it, we wouldn’t say no to a young set nyana. Here’s what happened the last time Black Coffee and Virgil had some fun together:
