Leading woman in sports

To some, sports is still regarded as a field for men and not women. However, we're showing our appreciation to all the leading female sports anchors who have challenged the status quo in this particular profession.

The first person that comes to mind when we speak of Mpho Maboi is the sports star, Reneilwe Letsholonyane. But to those of you who do not know, Mpho has an excellent profile of her own in sports. Mpho started her career in broadcasting as a YFM DJ, and today she is widely known for her great work as an SABC sports anchor.

If you are a lover of sports then you should be used to seeing Lebo Motsoeli's face. Lebo is an award-winning sports anchor who was introduced to the world of sports in 2003 where she was a voice over artist and scriptwriter for the youth program Sportsbuzz

She has hosted Sports on 2 with equally well-known sports anchor, Tshepo Mabona, and anchored SABC 1 and SABC 3 Sports to name a few. In 2006 she won the SAB Newcomer of the year Merit Award.

On November 2016, Vaylen replaced Minnie Dlamini on SoccerZone, however, Vaylen is not new to the profession of sports presenting as she has been working as a sports anchor on Morning Live for years now. Her career in sports started while she was still in high school presenting Sportsbuzz.

If we were to count the achievements of Carol Tshabalala, the 'First Lady Of Sports' since she started in sports broadcasting it would take us hours. After being with SABC sports for 10 years, Carol left the channel in 2011 and joined Supersports. Carol made headlines last year when she joined Barclays Premiere League on Football Today as an anchor.
