#SAMA25 has come and gone and now that the dust has settled, we can all take a few moments to unpack everything that went down. One of the most controversial topics was that of a man who wasn't even there, HHP (come on, what's a SAMA without Jabba?).
The rapper's legacy was honoured with a lifetime achievement award which we all thought Lerato Sengadi was going to collect before the award was eventually collected on his behalf by the late rapper's son, Leano - more on that story here if you want to read about it.
One other topic of discussion was the tribute performance which was dedicated to late rappers, HHP and Prokid. Let's just say the timeline didn't think it was all that:
Instead, many people were wondering why Cassper Nyovest, Jabba's mentee and fellow Maftown rapper didn't perform the tribute instead. Cassper and HHP were a close duo and it only made sense to include the Sweet n' Short rapper. We're not the only ones who thought so either:
As it turns out, Cassper was actually approached to perform at the SAMAs but the rapper revealed that he turned down the opportunity because he would have been limited to how much of a tribute he could share:
We're all disappointed fam. Don't you think Cassper Nyovest would have done Jabba justice?
