We've barely had time to catch our breath after the firings and suspensions at the SABC this year and September has kicked off with yet another one. THis time, it's Umhlobo Wenene DJ, Lulu Haarmans who has officially been fired by the national broadcaster after allegedly missing an event.

Twitter users have been stunned into silence after learning that one of their favourite Umhlobo Wenene DJs had been given the boot. The DJ who used to host Khanya Gqiyazana has been dropped from the roster so quickly that her DJ profile has already been removed from the Umhlobo Wenene (the same one that is allegedly snubbing Zahara) official website!
Lulu Haarmans is nowhere to be found on the Umhlobo Wenene website

The news was confirmed in a statement by the SABC spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu who said, “The SABC can confirm that it has terminated the contract of Ms Lulu Haarmans, who presented the mid-morning show, Khanya Gqiyazana,”.

As for the reasons behind the termination, Vuyo was a little less forthcoming with the information:

"The SABC is not in a position to go into the details as this was a matter between the SABC and Ms Haarmans. The station will make an announcement in due course as to who will present the mid-morning show,"

Many people believe that the presenter was axed after she missed a company event which she was set to host. according to Jozi Wire, she was meant to be the MC for the Hats and Heels women's event and not only did she miss the gig, but she was also discovered "heavily intoxicated" - conduct which was deemed to be too unprofessional by the station. Although a replacement has not been assigned, presenter Sibongile James has been filling in.

Fans on social media have expressed their deepest disappointment after finding out that their fave has left the building.

Do you think the SABC will fire any more talent before the end of this year?
