Your first look at Black Panther's Xhosa dialogue

With just over two weeks to go until the world gets to FINALLY see the much anticipated Black Panther film, Marvel has released a teaser that gives us a taste of the fictional Wakandan language that is largely based on Xhosa.

This is thanks to the fact that John and Atandwa Kani were appointed the film’s language experts after Kani Sr. (in the early days of his role as King T’Chaka) opted to speak Xhosa in the moment that the director required him to converse with his son in the Captain America: Civil War film.

In the newly released clip, Danai Gurira (who plays Okoye, a Dora Milaje warrior) converses with her fellow soldiers to alert them that she has been made and things are about to get tense. Watch:

Black Panther will be released in cinemas nationwide on 16 February 2018.
