With an acting game so strong that she has featured in almost all of the country’s most popular soapies including Generations, Rhythm City, Muvhango to name a few, Zikhona Sodlaka continues to dominate in the South African film and television industry.
The 33-year-old actress, singer and television personality best known for her roles on Shooting Stars, Soul City, Montana, Intsika and many more has blessed Mzansi with a decade of entertainment.
Born in Mthatha, Zikhona initially had a passion for modelling with a few appearances in TV commercials before gaining some spotlight in the acting industry for her role as Zukiswa on the final season of Tsha Tsha in 2006 starring along some industry greats.
Since then she has literally played every woman character from tomboy Zukiswa, an alcoholic, a diva, to her witch character on Mzansi Magic’s Igazi, Zikhona has had it all and she is in it to win it.
Although having studied Business Administration and Computer Science, Zikhona proved to be a jack of all trades as she also successfully pursued her love for arts and today she proudly stands amongst some of Mzansi greats in the acting industry.
Amongst many other talents, Zikhona also launched her singing career a few years back and although she has not produced an album, her career in music is a work in progress. The star also does motivational talks to set a good example and inspire many who look up to her.
However, just like any other career, acting has its ups and downs as Zikhona was also part of the Generations 16, axed over wage disputes in 2014. The actress successfully moved on making strides regardless of any setbacks with some career highlights including her role as Madiba’s mother on The Long Walk to Freedom alongside international stars like Idris Elba.
Besides adding positive value to the community, Zikhona also believes in the impact of charity activities to boost social change hence she pioneered the Zikhona Sodlaka Foundation to help the needy as well as promote HIV and AIDS campaigns.
