Reality star and businessman Mpumelelo Mseleku is celebrating after formally marrying his longtime partner, Tirelo Kale.
Mpumelelo and Tirelo Make Their Union Official
Viewers recently saw lobola negotiations and celebrations play out on Izingane ZeS’thembu, but the couple completed the formalities on February 14 and 15 earlier this year.
Mpumelelo said the milestone made him feel like a fully established husband. He had previously approached Tirelo’s family to request her hand, but they turned down the proposal. Even so, he told them he would persist. As Tirelo is his first wife, he initially left the cattle he had offered to her family before returning later and beginning the process again.
He explained that he was determined to follow the proper customs, particularly because his polygamous household attracts public scrutiny. In his view, the process is more straightforward among Tswana families than among Zulu families. Once lobola has been paid in Tswana tradition, the woman is regarded as the bride and a white wedding is not essential. In Zulu culture, however, paying lobola is followed by additional ceremonies and requirements.
A Family Legacy and a Growing Household
Mpumelelo’s decision to pursue a polygamous marriage reflects the path of his father, well-known polygamist Musa Mseleku.
Fans have followed the entrepreneur’s relationships and growing family, which include:
- His former girlfriend, Vuyokazi Nxiweni, with whom he has two children.
- Tirelo Kale, now his wife and the mother of his son.
- Amahle Biyela, whom Mpumelelo has identified as the mother of his fourth child, although he has chosen not to reveal further information about their relationship.
Tirelo’s Support Through Difficult Times
Mpumelelo spoke warmly about Tirelo’s loyalty, saying she remained beside him during some of the hardest periods of his life.
He recalled experiencing serious financial difficulties at one point. He returned home while he worked through those problems, later rebuilding his finances, and said Tirelo never abandoned him. For Mpumelelo, a relationship involves more than affection: financial realities also form part of a partnership, and Tirelo supported him even when he had no money.
Plans for Seven Wives and 20 Children
Now that he has married Tirelo, Mpumelelo intends to expand his polygamous family. He hopes eventually to have seven wives and at least 20 children, openly acknowledging that his desire for seven wives comes from his love of women.
He also believes polygamy should be established while a person is still young. Unlike a monogamous marriage, he said, a plural household cannot easily be built later in life because advancing age may leave less energy for raising children or correcting problems within the family. Mpumelelo currently has four children and wants to reach a minimum of 20 in the future.
