Parker reflects on their relationship and his regrets
Parker said he and Stepanovic had shared a relationship filled with love, joy, generosity and lasting memories, all of which he said would remain close to his heart.
He described Stepanovic as a constant source of strength in his life, saying she stood beside him, encouraged him and believed in him when he needed it most. Parker said he would always appreciate the ways she supported him throughout their time together.
The former soccer star also addressed the difficulties he faced during the relationship, admitting that he had fallen short as a partner. He said he would always value the life they built together, as well as the six children they share.
“I take responsibility for my mistakes, knowing some things cannot simply be undone with an apology,” Parker said.
He went on to reveal that he had dealt with personal addictions which affected both his own life and those closest to him. Addressing Stepanovic directly, Parker apologised for hurting her, disappointing her and causing her distress.
He said she had shown him a level of love, patience, care and support unlike anything he had experienced before. While accepting accountability for his actions, Parker acknowledged that saying sorry could not reverse everything that happened.
Still, he insisted that the end of their relationship would not diminish the positive experiences they had together. Parker said their children would always be a blessing and a bond between them.
Stepanovic praises Parker as a father
Parker said he regretted not always making the right choices and wished certain moments had unfolded differently. Even so, he said he wanted Stepanovic to find happiness, feel loved and be appreciated wherever life takes her.
He added that she deserved nothing less than peace, love and the best version of him. Parker said he was choosing to be thankful for their past, accept where he went wrong and place the future in God’s hands.
Stepanovic reposted the statement on her own social media and offered supportive words for Parker, particularly recognising his role in their children’s lives.
“Thank you for being the greatest father,” she wrote. “You are a great man with a world of potential. I know you will succeed in everything you do. Our sons and daughter are the luckiest to have you. God is able to restore all that’s in His will.”
