Seasoned actress Brenda Mhlongo is one of Mzansi's most favorite TV actresses, and she has been in the industry for several years now. The actress never ceases to entertain us and many people are constantly enchanted by her raw talent.

Whenever you see her on screen, you cannot help but get goosebumps. The actress who recently replaced KaMandonsela played by Fundiswa Zwane on eTV's popular soapie Imbewu The Seed, apparently choked one of the show's producers, leaving everyone shooketh to the core.

According to Sunday World, the producer yelled for help during the incident, and when asked why she did it, Brenda allegedly said she "got caught up in her character and the dlozi took over."

The actress has been receiving heaps of praises for the amazing portrayal of her sangoma character and it appears she was too attached to it.
Apparently things are bad at the production since a new management took over. A source told the publication that some employees are taking depression pills as a result of the toxic environment at work.

“The new management brought with them very rude and unprofessional crew members who are treating actors and other people like crap.”

“Many people have been on depression pills since the new management took over.”

“The work environment is no longer enjoyable, and people are scared to talk because they do not want to be fired as the new management does not like to be challenged," a source told the publication.

eTV spokesperson Bennum van Jaarsveld, told the paper that Brenda went into a trance and the producer had to calm her down. “She went into a real trance and she had to be calmed down by the producer. They had to stop shooting so that she could come back,” he said.

According to City Press, the actress has bagged a new role on Mzansi Magic’s award-winning show The River. The publication reports that, Mhlongo joined The River after being offered a fat pay cheque. The actress allegedly felt “disrespected” when she was given put on a call contract on Imbewu, hence she has decided to end this chapter.

“They’re cost-cutting and instead of letting her go – as they did to half the cast and crew last year – they put her on a call contract, which meant she was only paid per shoot.

“As a big actress, she didn’t take kindly to that at all," said a source.

It seems as though the problem is not with actors only but behind the scenes, it's also very nasty as well. "Everyone’s leaving the show – and they’re not only actors. Make-up people are also leaving, while support staff, including admin and media relations people, have left too,” City Press quoted a source recently.
