Cassper Nyovest dips fingers into the sounds of Maskandi

We have come to know Cassper Nyovest as that one musician that is not shy to invite unconventional sounds to hip-hop.

When news broke that Cassper Nyovest is set to release a song with maskandi heavyweights, Shwi Nomtekhala, one wondered if the collaboration would sound organic or forced. But knowing how good Cassper is at infusing two unrelated sounds, we were pretty confident about the outcome of the song which fittingly premiered on Ukhozi FM this week.

Dipping in various sounds has worked very well for the ambitious rapper. This collaboration with Shwi Nomtekhala goes to prove that the Doc Shebeleza hitmaker’s talents far exceed his hip-hop background. Ukhozi FM listeners were also impressed with the rapper’s basic command of IsiZulu.

Cassper is not one to be shackled into a fixed genre. From collaborating with music heavyweights such as the Mahotella Queens, Tshepo Tshola and now Shwi Nomtekhala, it is very befitting that he is nicknamed ‘Mufasa’.
