Did Cassper Nyovest Gets Getsa permission to use these lines?

Cassper Nyovest had an epic weekend. From
filling up Moses Mabhida Stadium, to performing in front of millions around the
world, to meeting Oprah and dancing off with Usher, it looked as if nothing
could go wrong for him – which is usually the precise moment when something
does go wrong!

The Sweet
and Short
hitmaker found himself in the tabloids this weekend after a
Mpumalanga-based DJ accused him of song lyric theft. While most of us having
been dancing to Gets Getsa 2.0, DJ
Lamondro has been fuming after seemingly being robbed by a much bigger artist.

Lamondro spoke to Sunday World and explained that he had released his own single, Bose, three months before Cassper dropped
the lead single from his new album. The song was uploaded online in June and
features a vocalist named Shakirah. She is important to the story because it
was she who called up the DJ when she first noticed that Cassper’s single
shared some of Bose’s lyrics.

DJ Lamondro explained to Sunday World: “I received a call from Shakirah at about
3am in the morning complaining about Cassper Nyovest’s song and encouraging me
to do something about it. But I was [initially] scared because Cassper Nyovest
is connected and he could destroy me. But I have gathered enough strength now
to fight for what is due to me. What I need is for Cassper Nyovest to recognise
me, even if he gives me R2 or R100 000, it doesn’t matter.”

This isn’t the first time that Cassper Nyovest
has been accused of song theft
. In 2017, an artist from Tembisa claimed that
the rapper’s single Baby Girl was
stolen. To his credit, Cassper wasted no time in responding to this year’s
allegations:

 “I don’t know this guy and I don’t know
his song, man. I credit everybody I worked with so I prefer not to comment coz
I don’t wanna give life to the story you are writing.

It’s not immediately clear if Lamondro has
legal grounds to pursue this matter any further. Have a listen to his song, Bose and tell us if you think that
Cassper owes us all an explanation.
