Cotton Festival, the music festival hosted by Riky Rick which featured over 100 artists across multiple stages, is making a return in 2020 after a successful first year back in February 2019. The festival brought together lovers of hip hop and street culture alike and after knocking the lights out with a massive debut, Riky will be looking to take the movement even further with a second audition in 2020.
The second annual (we can officially call it that now, right?) Cotton Fest was announced in tandem with the release of the 2019 Aftermovie which took fans back on the roller coaster journey that was this year's inaugural festival. Riky Rick and his team confirmed the return of the festival in a press statement sent to media this week where he also revealed that plans for the second Cotton Fest were immediately underway after the first one proved to be a success.
Riky said in the statement, "Following the highly successful festival this year, it was an obvious move to do it again. Thanks to the support of every single artist, concert goer and even the suppliers we worked with, this festival made history, changed the game in a positive way. We started planning Cotton Fest 2.0 the first week after the show, back in February. 2020 is gonna be on another level."
The festival proved to be a huge hit with hip hop lovers, particularly who were pleased to see a blend of established and up-and-coming artists on the roster for this year's festival. It looks as if the mandate for 2020's edition will remain the same and bubbling under artists are already looking to book their spots on the roster for next year's show.
Collin C heaped the praise on Riky Rick when he wrote on Twitter,
"The future of South African Hip Hop is in safe hands because of you King
Thanks for opening doors & giving upcoming artists an opportunity to get recognized. I hope Ima be on stage on the next cotton fest"
If you didn't make it to the very first edition of Cotton Festival, then you can relive all of the magic by watching the Aftermovie below:
