Dineo Ranaka has marked a major moment in her spiritual life by being baptised at Highway Church Centurion.
Dineo’s Baptism Draws Attention
The media personality began trending on Monday after photos showing her smiling following the ceremony spread across social media. Many people welcomed the development, while others wondered how the baptism fits into the ubungoma path she has previously discussed.
Her Traditional-Healer Calling
In a September 2021 interview, Dineo openly described embracing her ancestral calling to become a traditional healer, 17 years after learning that she had the gift.
- She said she had completed her training and qualified as a traditional healer.
- She explained that she was known as Gogo Somahashe after graduating.
- Her work, she said, involved helping people through spoken words and natural remedies.
At the time, Dineo said the new chapter required her to dedicate herself to answering the call to help people who were emotionally and spiritually wounded.
She also said healing was central to her identity, alongside her work as a DJ and television presenter. In her view, honouring both God and her ancestors through healing was essential, and she insisted that she should never abandon her role as a traditional healer.
What Happens to Her Healing Work Now?
Dineo has not explained whether she plans to continue practising as a traditional healer after her baptism.
When asked to comment on the questions surrounding her spiritual journey, she offered a brief response: “There is nothing to be said.”
