Not too long ago, Dj Shimza ruffled Mzansi’s feathers when he took to Twitter to announce that he wanted his helper back because he was running out of clean socks.

While many did not exactly understand why this was such an important issue to publicize on Twitter, Shimza remained unbothered saying that it was helper’s job to clean his socks and not his.

Now to think that the disgusted reactions and responses from Black Twitter would be enough to make Shimza to rethink his actions, he has now gone ahead to even land himself into even hotter soup.

Barely a few hours after he tweeted about his helper, he went back to announce that from the whole trolling and backlash he got from the tweet, his following has since increased by 30k.

Taking to his comment section, you can already imagine how hilarious the reactions streaming in. The question on many people’s minds is, is Shimza really boasting that he got 30k new followers for not washing his own socks?

Who knew being a celebrity could earn you free followers just by tweeting something about your dirty socks? Should we take notes too and see what happens? Clearly though, Shimza should have just let the whole situation rest instead of adding salt to the still fresh wound.

Many are seeing his stunt as being disrespectful and completely out of line, not that that matters to Shimza anyway. His fans are also in agreement that he shouldn’t even block his haters because at the end of the day all they are doing is giving him free publicity.

That aside however, Shimza is currently being investigated for corruption after his restaurant, Hang Awt, was awarded a contract to organize the ministerial cookoff alongside Somizi Mhlongo last year.

Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane and media celebrity and "chef" Somizi attended a barbecue sponsored by the South African tourism sector.

Last month, Sowetan Live revealed that the Public Service Commission (PSC) had initiated an investigation into how Shimza was given the R150 000 contract.

This is clearly not the first time Shimza is trending for all the wrong reasons and at this rate, it definitely will not be the last.

His government affiliations seem to be one of the things that keep landing him on the wrong side of Black Twitter, but that has never stopped him from doing exactly what he wants.
