Through his now viral podcast interview on Podcast and Chill, Dr Malinga got a second chance in the limelight as the general public rallied around Dr Malinga. This is as public figures like Black Coffee and Makhadzi along with public donations gave him an estimated R300 000, which he had shared that it went to paying some of the money owed to SARS.
However, besides the monetary donations that he was receiving of late. Dr Malinga was also booked and busy again. So much so that as part of his financial recovery he has attempted to revive his resort which is located in Soshanguve. While fans and the general public have celebrated his return. His latest social media post had social media split.
Tweeps split over Dr Malinga's luxury purchase
Taking to his Instagram, Dr Malinga shared a video of himself in a McClaren. The caption was written in isiZulu stating “Ngiyabonga nkosi.” A term when translated means, “Thank you God.” As such, it led to the assumption that Dr Malinga had purchased the luxury sports car despite his recent events.
As a result, it did not take tweeps long to head on over to the blue app to share their opinions on the matter. Of course, there were those that felt that the Thanks Bye personality had squander the money he had received from the general public on yet another miscellaneous purchase. Therefore, should he face financial difficulty in the future he must not come crying to the public.
But in the same breath there were tweeps who stuck up for Dr Malinga. On the one hand, his defenders suggested that he was well within his rights to do whatever he felt fit with his “money,” even if it was received from donations.
Moreover, there were tweeps who were more observant to the context of the post. This is as the caption to his post is the title of his upcoming single. As such, it is safe to assume that the McClaren was a rented car, similar to the location that the video is shot, for the purposes of shooting a music video for the single Ngiyabonga Nkosi.
While it has not been confirmed as yet, Dr Malinga seems to enjoy returning to the trends list on Twitter. This is as he took to the blue app in light of his trending to highlight that he is aware that he is currently trending. But instead of addressing the matter of whether or not he did purchase the luxury car, he only just signed out of the chat with his now signature of, “Thanks bye.” It is for that reason that we can assume that this is all part of the grand marketing roll out for his official comeback single.
