Gogo Maweni’s New Reality Show TMI?

Gogo Maweni is arguably one of the most recognisable sangomas in the country. While she might have initially been labelled as SK Khoza’s baby mama, she has since created a name for herself in terms of the public.

As such, it was no surprise given all the controversy that surrounds her that Moja Love would give her her own reality show titled Thokoza Gogo. While the trailer teased aspects of her life that are expected, including her snakes, her marriage to Sabelo Cele, and her dabbling with black magic.

The first episode left viewers wondering if this show was appropriate for the public to consume.

Gogo Maweni’s new reality show TMI?

The first episode of Thokoza Gogo premiered on Saturday, 6 May 2023. In the 24 minutes of the episode, the events taking place were alarming, to say the least.

Off the bat, Gogo Maweni and her husband were visiting a traditional healer to ward off the evil spirits that she alleged prevented her from working from her “ancestral home.” There after, there were scenes of Gogo Maweni practicing “black magic” as she violated a gravesite in order for the spirit to go and kill someone.

If that was not enough, the next scenes focussed on Sabelo asking Gogo Maweni whether or not they were part of the Illuminati, which she confirmed…

Safe to say, as viewers, the question became whether this show was too much explicit information on black magic and the negative aspects which shroud the misconceptions on traditional healers and their practices.

Possibly, Sabelo coming to terms with his wife’s lifestyle choices might be the result of their sometimes rocky marriage. This is as it was suggested that the couple was on their way to a breakup. As reported at the time:

According to a report by Zimoja Lezinto, there might be trouble in paradise. A close friend who wanted to remain anonymous told the publication that Sabelo crashed Gogo Maweni’s fancy Mercedes-Benz ride.

The source added that there are allegations of infidelity in the marriage. “She is an independent woman, she makes more money and her ego is inflated. You can earn money, which is already an issue for a man. When he crashed her car, she said some crazy things to him which I will not repeat.”

Apparently, Gogo Maweni has insecurities and thinks every woman is after her husband. “She can fight and have fake beef with people, but not bring that home. They are still together and living in the house but they are having serious issues. I won’t mention the insecurities. She thinks every woman wants her husband.”
