While stars like Boity like experimenting with their hair, Hugh Masekela seems to prefer only natural hair on women.
While performing at Eyadini in Durban, the music legend reportedly asked security guards to keep women with weaves and extensions away from him. Mjay Zama, who owns the venue, confirmed to Sowetan that Bra Hugh was protected by a large number of bouncers.
"Usually we provide bouncers for any musicians perfoming in our area. But Bra Hugh appealed for more bouncers to protect him from women with weaves."
Nomusa Khuboni, who was at Eyadini, told the paper: "He [Hugh] was condescending. What concerns him if we wear weaves [and] take pictures with him?" Nomusa revealed that her friend, who had extentions, insisted on taking a picture with the music legend, but he told her he doesn't take pictures with girls with that kind of hair.
According to Sowetan, Bra Hugh denied that he asked for more bouncers to protect him. "Why would I want to be protected? I can protect myself from these women? As someone who runs a foundation that seeks to restore culture and identity, I refused to take photos with people with weaves. And I tell them that myself."
