Former Gomora actor Israel Matseke Zulu is very vocal about his struggles with reentering the job market. He told Daily Sun that his leg amputation has made it very difficult for him to find work.

Israel Zulu is making his troubles well known as he pleads with people to help him find a job.
Speaking to the publication, Israel said as an actor, life became hard because he cannot land a job. The versatile and legendary actor is known for bodying many roles since the golden days and is one of the veterans in SA film industry.
The star had exited Gomora which was his very last gig before losing his leg. He was diagnosed with gangrene and received heaps of love and support from fans.
He was however not pleased with the way the news came out to the public because his condition was leaked.

“Life is hard because I can’t get a job as an actor. I think my missing leg is the cause. I go to auditions, but I don’t get callbacks, I don’t want this to affect my mental health. It’s scary that life can change so drastically in such a short time. I know I’m a talented actor and I haven’t lost hope. Maybe something will come up sooner or later”
“I’m producing my films with a friend. I have everything goes well. I’m also recording my kwaito album to be released soon… I don't want to feel pity for myself. So I make sure I keep myself busy. ”
Sunday World that the process is not that easy.
After attending 4 auditions thus far, Israel is looking to land his next gig. But he hopes that whichever gig he lands will be very understanding and allow him to work short hours.
Still feeling positive about his role on Gomora, Israel said he would rather focus on the music instead.
“I am working on something else now. Gomora is a question mark for me because I don’t know what will happen to my character. For now, I am focusing on music, and I can’t talk about acting yet,” Zulu told the publication.
The album he is working on will be ready in 2023 but he will be releasing a song next month to give fans a taste of what to expect.
Israel is a Kwaito artist who plans to do more for the genre, “Kwaito music is a Mzansi-founded genre, and this is the kind of music that we should learn to preserve. It stands for who we are as a country. I understand that as time goes by, people want to hear different sounds and there is always space to make it more entertaining for the people to enjoy.”
“I am here to release the sounds we always loved. I am one of the kwaito musicians who are still alive, and I should play my part in preserving the sounds of kwaito,” he added. “In all the years I didn’t release music, it was not because I was lazy. I pushed but the musical journey is hard. My next album is a killer, but it hasn’t been easy recording it because of my condition. Still, it will go out,” he concluded.
