Itumeleng Khune and family have suffered a terrible loss after his younger sister lost her life during an alleged home invasion. She reportedly got burnt beyond recognition at her grandmother’s house in Tshing, Extension 2, North West.

What started off as an 'inquest' turned to be a devastating case of murder and an additional charge of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm was added. This according to Daily Sun who got confirmation from the Ventersdorp police.
A 17-year-old child was allegedly arrested this weekend under suspicions of involvement in the murder. He was charged for the murder of Khune's 27-year-old sister Mapula Khune on Friday.
The teenage boy will be appearing before the Ventersdorp Children’s Court today. A statement from the police as quoted by Daily Sun reads as follows;
“This comes after the 17-year-old boy was charged on Friday afternoon, 5 March 2021, in Ventersdorp, following the alleged murder of Khune. Police initially investigated an inquest, but after obtaining more information, the inquest was changed to murder.”
“Since Friday, additional cases of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) have been reported as community street patrollers and family members have allegedly been assaulting alleged perpetrators for the murder of Khune.”
Since the incident, community of Ventersdorp have been up in arms over the brutal murder of the goalie's sister. They have reportedly been attacking suspects and wanting to take matters into their own hands.
Mapula Khune was found burnt beyond recognition at the backroom of her grandmothers house on Thursday morning. “At 5 am on Thursday we received a call about a lot of smoke coming from a backroom in Tshing. The police broke down the door and found a 27-year-old burnt inside the room. Unfortunately, the lady died.”
“It is not the main house that was burnt down, but an outdoor room where Mapula was sleeping. The incident happened at their grandmother’s house in Venterdorp in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Their last brother-sister moment on social media was when he shared a picture of her with heart emoji. She then replied with “Big brother I love you.”
