Kalawa Jazzmee Biopic In The Works

The award-winning director of hit TV series Tjovitjo – Vincent Moloi has revealed that he will be filming Kalawa Jazmee Records 25th anniversary biopic during an interview on Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast Show.

Moloi has promised that this biopic will be the best that South Africa has ever seen.

“We are going to make the best youth drama you have ever seen in South Africa, it’s authentic, rock and roll lifestyle, we can’t live without telling an authentic South African drama that is dedicated to our geniuses. Because that is what these guys are, they are icons.”

He said for him to be given an opportunity to make a drama about their lives is something he can brag about.

“Ke kgona wo qoma kere (I’m able to brag and say) I have done everything in South African film you know…I have paid my dues.”

The director reiterated by saying that the best is going to come out of the drama.

Moloi’s Tjovitjo in 2018 won six South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) which are, best actor, best drama, best sound design, best production design, best editing and best cinematography.

While the documentary Skulls of My People, won best documentary feature, best director and best cinematographer.

The label is a major contributor to the growth of the Kwaito genre in South Africa with artists like Trompies, Oskido and Mafikizolo just to mention a few.
