Avid watchers of The River are fuming following the exit of Lawrence Maleka who plays Zolani on the popular 1Magic Telenovela. The actor has won the hearts of many people on the show with his captivating performances on the show.

Ever since he landed the role, he has never taken a break from the show hence viewers are worried about his future. Lawrence exited the show after his character Zolani was found guilty of killing Zithulele Duze, played by Makhaola Ndebele. A number of viewers have even threatened to boycott the show if he does not return. However, it is unclear when he will be back or whether he has left the show permanently to pursue other interests.
Viewers are hoping that producers of the show will bring Lawrence back, even though he has not addressed his exit. Others are hoping that Lindiwe Dikana will make some intervention to bring back the much loved character.
The actor recently shared that he received a letter from a concerned fan asking about his exit. The letter reads, " Sorry to bother you, it we just want to know . Have you left The River? If you have, we are no longer watching it."
Maleka recently bagged a new TV gig on an SABC dating show Too Hot to Be Single. Describing Lawrence's casting, SABC1 Brand Manager Phuthi Moloto wrote, “We are very excited to finally have Lawrence as part of the SABC1 family. “Too Hot To Be Single” requires a host that is suave, charming, and is able to think on his feet. Channel is 100% confident that Lawrence is the perfect fit for this fun and light-hearted dating show. We can’t wait for our viewers to see how incredibly talented he is.”
Bagging the presenting gig, Lawrence is overjoyed that he finally gets to work with the SABC family, as it has been a dream of his. “I am pleased to announce that I’ll be joining @mzansi_fosho as the host of their brand new dating game show Too Hot To Be Single. Tune in on Thursday, 8 April @21:00 on SABC 1 to find out if the Too Hot To Be Singles are able to find their perfect match” he wrote with excitement.
Lawrence is one of the country's most loved TV personalities. He is well known for his impeccable presenting skills. The last time he actually had a presenting gig was in SABC3's reality TV show, The Final Cut, which was in 2017.
Those who love singing or talent shows will remember him on Mzansi Magic's Clash of The Choirs, which was when he got his major break. However, if we want to take things even further back and talk about the first time he appeared on TV, it would have to be in 2009 on Soweto TV - a gig he says he was encouraged by TV and radio personality Lerato Kganyago to audition for.
