Other than Trevor Noah and Charlize Theron, we never really get to see Mzansi’s finest celebs strutting their stuff at the Met Gala. You might be asking “Why should they be there?” but come on fam – South Africa is one of the most in-demand talent hubs around the word right now. Beyond Trevor and Charlize, the likes of Nasty C, Bonang, Cassper Nyovest and loads more are making international waves at a rapid pace.
With this in mind, we don’t think it would be too unrealistic to feature a few South African talents at next year’s Met. If we could have it our way, here are a few we’d nominate to be on the Met Gala red carpet in 2020:
Bonang Matheba
Even Farah Fortune agrees! Bonang is the queen of the red carpet and would not look out of place surrounded by Hollywood’s finest. All she needs is a bold and daring Gert-Johan number and she’ll be good to go!
Maps Maponyane
If you’re looking for a dapper suitor for the big occasion, look no further than Mr Maponyane (who apparently is NOT dating Boity…) who never ever disappoints.
Nhlanhla Nciza
Not only is she one of the sharpest dressers around but she makes her own clothing too! Nhlanhla would be a beautiful and proudly African addition to next year’s guest list.
Zodwa Wabantu
Every event needs a wildcard and cards don’t come much wilder than Zodwa Wabantu. The controversial dancer would bring more than just a little bit of spice to next year’s event (and it would make great content for her reality show too!).
Which celebrities would you like to see at the Met Gala next year?
