Siv Ngesi Vs. Athi Geleba

As 2024 draws even closer. The matter of which political party to vote for in the next upcoming elections has heated up. This is as ZAlebs, who had previously kept their political affiliations private, has all but changed. A stance believed to have been taken to not disheartening any party from “working” with them during their election run.

But in light of the continuous disappointment that the current ruling party and its parliament have been handling the state of affairs. More and more, ZAlebs are speaking out about their discomfort and disgruntlement about the ruling party.

However, that does not mean that there aren’t ZAlebs or ZAlebs associates that still support the ruling party, boldly and loudly despite the current status quo of the country.

Siv Ngesi vs. Athi Geleba

Siv Ngesi might be an actor, drag queen and affirmed activist for LGBTQI+ rights. But in recent months, The Woman King star has seen him immersing himself in the ever polarising discourse of political alliance. First, was his back and forth with Jacob Zuma’s daughter and twin sister to Duduzane Zuma, Duduzile Sambulo-Zuma.

However, recently, he took direct aim at the African National Congress as a whole. This is as he tweeted a polarising tweet, stating that:

“Imagine being an educated young South African and wearing an ANC t-shirt with pride!”

The tweet of course had ANC supporters in the comments section defending the ruling party. This is despite the state the country is in.

Mara wena you are not young chief he is talking about young people

It has done so much??? Damn ai load shedding will. Never end, crime will never end

But the one that got the most interactions from replying in support of the ANC was the rebuttal post by Spokesperson to the Presidency, Athi Geleba, who showed herself wearing an ANC t-shirt with pride.

Ngesi did not respond. However, there were other disgruntled “youths” who took to her comments section to lambaste and highlight how ironic Athi’s support for the ruling party considering that she gets to travel with the president while the rest of the country remains behind to enjoy loadshedding.

You’re not affected by issues(high cost of living, crime, loadshedding) faced by young educated Black South Africans are facing. In fact our taxes insulate you from all the issues we face.

I would also wear that T-shirt with pride if I was benefitting from the organisation…nothing wrong here

As Geleba remains steadfast in her support of the ruling party, it does suggest that there is yet another ZAlebs we can expect to support the ruling party in the upcoming elections. And that none other than producer-DJ Shimza. As reported before:

Shimza and Athi Geleba go social media official

As early as November 2020, it was rumoured that Shimza and Spokesperson to the Presidency, Athi Geleba were an item. This was due to the two having posted images from Shimza’s closet, which social media were quick to put two and two together and decide that the two were actually an item.

But finally in December 2022, on Athi’s birthday, the two finally went social media official after two years of speculation that the two were an item or not. This is as Shimza wished his girlfriend who he refers to as Mangwanya, a post which on Twitter, Athi responded to in order to also confirm that Shimza was her man.
