As pressure mounts for other brands to take the recent rape allegations by Lady Zamar seriously and cancel Sjava, MultiChoice is the latest event organiser that is weighing its options.
The Cape Town International Jazz Festival recently took to social media to inform the country of their decision to drop Sjava's performance at the event due to the severity of the allegations of rape levelled against him. This has been the first and only organiser to make such a move so quickly after a rape allegation.
Social Media was divided with others calling the rape allegations a deliberate character assassination by the singer because of their bitter past relationship.
While many saw it as a well overdue cry for help from Lady Zamar, who decided she needed to break her silence.
Although Sjava is one of the top nominees at the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards, which will be hosted by Minnie Dlamini-Jones on the 14 March at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, the Sowetan Live has come to know that MultiChoice is yet to make a decision on their position due to consultations between MultiChoice lawyers, the production team involved in the awards and Sjava's management.
Only recently, Sjava issued a statement to deny the allegations and further draw questions around this case, as we await MultiChoice's decision, one has to wonder whether this is the beginning of the end for Sjava's career.
