The Miss South Africa organization is trending again for the wrong reasons. This follows after announcing yesterday that Miss SA 2021 Lalela Mswane, will represent the country at the 13th edition of Miss Supranational 2022 this July in Poland, and Mzansi is not impressed at all.

The reason for this is that Lalela represented the country recently at the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat, Israel, where she was crowned Miss Universe 2021 second runner up. Now, she is set to return to another international stage.
Lalela was crowned Miss South Africa 2021 at a glitzy crowning event hosted in the Mother City in October 2021. The two runners-up were Moratwe Masima, and Zimi Mabunzi. According to the Miss SA organization, the runner-ups and the title holder were supposed to represent the country at Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Supranational, however they are changing their tune now.
Miss SA title holders typically represent the country only at one international pageant, while her runners-up are also permitted to participate in international pageants.
The announcement that Lelela will soon jet off to Poland for the Miss Supranational pageant has received some backlash on social media and Twitter users are fuming. According to them, Lalela was selfish for accepting this and should have stood up for the rest of the ladies to have the same opportunities to flourish at an international pageant.
Here's how Twitter users have reacted to the announcement.
@"[email protected]_15·1 tweeted "Miss SA is such a trash organisation no ways 😭😭 they just dropped Zimi and Moratwe like hot potatoes and decided that Lalela will represent the country at Miss Supranatural."
@wandi_mthembu· tweeted "This is the kind of shit that pisses me off with Miss SA. Luister, Zimi and Moratwe are South Africa’s first BLACK top 3.And the other two aren’t going because of WHAT? Your call to entry video last year and what you all told all the entrants is so misleading. Can’t believe this!"
@[email protected]_Lulo· tweeted "The Miss SA org doesn’t owe anyone any explanation, especially not Twitter!! One minute you guys want to cancel the whole organisation the next you want to tell them what to do? Lol, please man!! 😅
Dr Moratwe has apparently unfollowed the Miss SA page on Instagram and removed Miss SA runner up from her bio. Lalela defied odds and participated in the Miss Universe pageant despite calls for Mzansi to boycott the pageant. Even though she received death threats, she still pursued her dream
After being crowned Miss Universe 2021, Lalela took to Instagram to thank each and every one of her supporters. She started off with a powerful quote which read; “The most beautiful turn of events is when the obstacles that were meant to tear you down, end up strengthening you in ways you never could've imagined”
"I decided to choose faith over fear and follow what felt right and good to my soul and I am filled with so much appreciation and gratitude for all the love and comfort I received in support of my pursuing something extremely important to me. Ngiyabonga South Africa," she said.
