And while Mzansi is excited to see the new and upcoming talents that will be featured on the talent show this year, it has come as a surprise to many after it was reported that former Kaya 959 presenter Unathi Nkayi, may not be coming back as a judge in this new season.
According to City Press, Unathi is reported to have been forcefully axed from the judge panel. That is not all however. Remember how fans had boycotted Somizi to be brought back as a judge? Well, it looks like Unathi’s exit will see the return of Somizi back on the judge panel. Coincidence?

As you can recall, the reason Somizi was given the boot was after his estranged husband Mohale Motaung had accused Somizi of allegedly abusing him and this saw the exit of Somgaga from the hit talent show.
And as was witnessed by all of Mzansi as well as the Idols SA, team viewership dropped profusely following Somizi’s exit which just went to show that viewers loved him and wanted him back. And while that seems to be the main reason he is finally returning to the judge panel, Mzansi can’t help but wonder if he was eyeing Unathi’s spot all along.
It is not clear whether or not the reason Unathi is being shown the door is because of the drama that took place between her and fellow media personality Sizwe Dhlomo. The two had gotten into a very heated altercation that saw Unathi accuse Sizwe of allegedly insulting her, which was apparently not true.
It got so ugly that Unathi ended up getting fired which of course did not look so good on her career. And as much as the dust seems to have settled, it looks like Unathi will be paying dearly for her sins for a long long time. Still, it is sad to see her leave.
