Its official, Vuyo Dabula is expected to exit Generations: The Legacy. Daily Sun reports that the hunky eye-candy’s last scene will be in March 17. His talent, good looks as well as the way he says “sweetheart” roped in a large female audience, which raises concerns for the producers who fear that they will lose when the mighty Gadaffi exits the show.
“Some people watched the show because of him. So his departure might turn some off, but only time will tell. His last scene is scheduled to air on 17 March,” said an anonymous source to the publication.
Vuyo had egg on his face when a decision to leave the show backfired as he is now left jobless. Last year the talented actor confirmed to Daily Sun that he would be leaving Generations: The Legacy for good. Sources told the publication that the leading actor on the SABC 1 telenovela, had decided to leave the show and focus on shooting the upcoming season of Netflix's Queen Sono.
He had been given an ultimatum to choose one of the two productions but he chose greener pastures instead. Confirming the news he said, “I was going to reveal this, but I guess it is what it is.” The egg on his face was caused by the cancellation of Queen Sono season 2, yikes!
Many including the producers were left puzzled by his decision as the drama series, which has been playing in South African homes for more than two decades provided more of a stable income for him. As opposed to a Netflix series which has proven to not secure an influx of money for any actor really.
Sadly, when news broke of the cancellation of Queen Sono, Vuyo was left with an indescribable feeling of regret and he planned on getting his job back. When the publication contacted him to get his side of the story, he backtracked on his word and said "I am not leaving the show." This was after producers and writers worked around the clock to find a suitable and exciting exit for him, making the task challenging for them as Kumkani ‘Gadaffi’ Phakade is the baddest thug in a suit and a very big character.
An insider told Daily Sun that he is now shooting his last scenes, but he will not be killed off, “He is busy shooting his exit scenes from the show, and viewers will get to see the last of him in the next couple of weeks. He won’t be killed off the show, though.”
