Zindzi Mandela Had Tested Positive For Covid-19

The daughter of struggle stalwarts will be laid to rest today.

This week tributes have been pouring in for the daughter of anti-apartheid leaders Nelson and Winnie Mandela, Zindzi Mandela, who died on Monday after being admitted to hospital. Zindzi's cause of death remains unknown but her son Zondwa, has revealed that she had tested positive for Covid-19.

Zondwa confirmed on SABC yesterday that, her mother had tested positive for COVID-19, but said they are still awaiting full autopsy results to determine her cause of death.

"There were other tests that were conducted and my mother did in fact test positive for Covid-19 on the day of her passing. Although this does not, therefore, mean that she died of Covid-related complications but simply that she tested positive for it," said Zondwa.

Zindzi served as South Africa's Ambassador to Denmark and she died at the age of 59.
