e.tv’s drama series Isitha: The Enemy will conclude on 23 April 2027, bringing more than three years of storytelling to an end.
Isitha: The Enemy heads towards its finale
The broadcaster confirmed the decision on Monday, identifying the series as the final “legacy” drama still airing on e.tv. The show launched in 2023 as a spinoff of The Black Door, expanding the Sokhulu family’s storyline into a standalone drama.
During its run, Isitha: The Enemy received recognition at both the SAFTAs and the Royalty Soapie Awards. Its honours included Best Achievement in Original Music/Score – Telenovela, Best Achievement in Cinematography and Outstanding Lighting Direction.
What viewers can expect before the ending
- The upcoming “Bulldozed” arc will focus on the destruction of shacks and the impact of those demolitions on the community at the centre of the series.
- The build-up to the finale will feature deaths, major twists and the introduction of new characters.
- Among those arrivals is Dineo Mtshali, a role played by actress and musician Kabelo “KB” Motsilanyane.
- Dineo is a fashion designer from Soweto who has created a life removed from her past. Her arrival is expected to disrupt the world of Mapholoba, the drama’s central character.
Helga Palmer, Group Head of Content Development and Strategy at eMedia Investments, said the conclusion forms part of a wider change in direction for e.tv.
“Isitha: The Enemy has played an important role in e.tv’s storytelling journey, and we are extremely proud of the impact it has had,” Palmer said. “While we prepare to bring this chapter to a close, we are also looking forward to what comes next. e.tv is moving into a new era of drama, offering audiences compelling stories supported by a strong combination of established and emerging talent.”
Mandla N, co-founder and executive producer of Black Brain Pictures, helped guide the series from its beginnings in The Black Door. He said the production team wanted the conclusion to echo the drama’s origins.
“Making Isitha: The Enemy has been an extraordinary journey. We took the Sokhulu family’s world from The Black Door and expanded it into a fresh chapter, allowing us to explore different characters, clashes and narratives while creating a series with its own identity,” he said.
He promised that the final episodes would retain the qualities that have shaped the show. “As we move towards the last chapter, our aim is to leave audiences with the spirit that has defined the series since the start: fearless storytelling, surprises and characters who will not easily be forgotten. There is still plenty to tell before we say goodbye,” he added.
Isitha: The Enemy airs on e.tv at 20:30, with the countdown to its 23 April 2027 finale beginning ahead of the closing episode.
