The basketball icon died in a helicopter crash

The sports fraternity around the world is mourning the death of one of it's own - Kobe Bryant. SA Celebs have also paid tribute to the late legend.


The iconic basketball star passed away at age 41. Around 10am LA time after a helicopter that he was riding in, crashed in Calabasas, Los Angeles.

To make the news even more tragic, it's been confirmed that he was travelling with his 13-year-old daughter, Giana Bryant - who was amongst other nine people that died in the crash as well.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves across all spheres in the world. Judging by the various comments and tributes on social media, the lanky basketball star's influence spread across the realm of sports and America.


Some of our South African celebrities have paid their tributes to the five time NBA Champion.

Award winning rapper, Stogie T expressed how much he admired Kobe Bryant. He especially admired Kobe's work ethic and determination.
