Makgotso Monyemorathoe Debuts Producer Role With New Talk Show Naunced Conversations

South African actress Makgotso Monyemorathoe is making a bold pivot in her entertainment career, signaling that her creativity reaches well beyond acting and onto the production side.

She has officially announced the launch of a new talk show, Naunced Conversations, which marks her first step as a producer.

Posting on Instagram, Makgotso said the idea has been developing for a long time, explaining that uncertainty and fear stopped her from putting some of her concepts in front of the public. Now, she’s ready to move forward with the project instead of waiting for it to feel “perfect.”

“For a long time, I’ve been working on different projects, but didn’t have the courage to put them out into the world. That changes now,” she wrote.

Alongside the announcement, the actress shared a trailer for what she calls the pilot episode of Naunced Conversations, describing it as the only episode she has produced so far.

Makgotso also revealed that the conversation will be released in two installments. Her goal is to use the early response to help secure financial backing and develop the concept into a full season.

“It’s not perfect, but it’s a start, and it’s me fully embracing my journey as a producer and an attempt to try to attract funding for the whole season,” she explained.

Episode focus: identity, division, and the systems behind inequality

  1. The debut episode is centered on a major issue affecting South African society: social identity.
  2. Makgotso says the discussion examines how xenophobia, afrophobia, racism, tribalism, and widening social divides continue to shape communities across the country.
  3. Rather than encouraging audiences to turn differences into distance, she hopes the series will push viewers to question the structures that keep inequality and social tension alive.

“Identity is complex, and I believe our energy is better spent challenging the systems that are responsible for the well-being of the people, rather than hating one another,” she shared.

Guests, respectful dialogue, and what’s next

  1. Makgotso thanked the guests who took part in the conversation, noting that real, meaningful discussion about difficult subjects is becoming harder to find.
  2. She also reminded followers that respectful disagreement is key to productive conversations.
  3. “P.S. You don’t have to agree with people to respect them. Please be respectful in the comment sections,” she wrote.

Naunced Conversations is scheduled to premiere on 26 July. Makgotso confirmed it will be released on select social media platforms, and she said additional information will be shared later.
