Mpho Sebina is a Botswana- born Johannesburg based singer-songwriter who has been injecting an infectious energy into the Pan African music scene.
The musician has been selected as an awardee for a Pop Kulture Berlin scholarship as well as the Goethe-Institut scholarship.
She and 9 other musicians from across the globe have jetted off to Berlin for the scholarship program which began on the 13th of August and will run until the 24th of August 2019.
Activities include plenty workshops, networking, internships, making music and a music festival.
Whilst in Berlin, she performed at the Monarch Berlin On the 18th accompanied by amazing international artists.
The Pop Kulture scholarship is awarded to 10 musicians between the ages of 20 and 30. The singer was amongst the selected few musicians from all genres in different countries.
They will be making Berlin their home for 11 days as they learn a lot about pop music and the culture that surrounds it. They will be educated on various aspects of the industry. Also they will be participating in studio visits, jam sessions, short traineeships in selected companies from Berlin’s creative industries, listening sessions and meetings with scholarship holders of the Musicboard Berlin GmbH.
Some of the artists include Amro Ismael from Egypt, Jeslla from Indonesia, KiliHippie from Kenya and Verraco from Colombia. Just to name a few.
Mpho's background is musical as her whole family is practically music junkies, and her inspirations boast from the legends in the musical industry who inspire her sound and writing. Her music can be best described as fusion of soul, RnB and African rhythms.
