The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has officially unveiled the Aruwe Under-15 Football Competition, highlighting the administration’s focus on strengthening unity, peace, and cooperation among young people across the council area.
The tournament is set to run from July 15, 2026, through July 31, 2026.
Speaking at the formal flag-off and public awareness programme at the Council Secretariat, Aruwe said the competition is designed to identify and develop emerging football talents, while also creating a constructive environment for youth participation. He added that keeping young people actively engaged in sports can help reduce exposure to social vices, and promote discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition.
The Organising Committee stated that teams will be selected from all ten wards within Mushin Local Government. It also assured participants and other stakeholders that matches will be managed in line with standard football regulations, with the aim of guaranteeing fairness, professionalism, and a competitive standard throughout the event.
The launch event drew a wide range of attendees, including prominent dignitaries, community leaders, football supporters, youth representatives, and stakeholders from within and beyond Mushin Local Government. Many praised the initiative as an important step toward youth empowerment and the promotion of grassroots football.
